Midcoast Cancer Classic August 9, 2019
The Midcoast Cancer Classic raises money for local cancer support services at the PenBay Medical Center in Midcoast Maine. This program follows the fun and excitement of the day including special golf challenges, interviews, raffles of amazing gift packages including a fabulous Dine Around raffle, and various awards for the winners of the golf tourney events. This event happens every year, sponsored by the Rockland Women’s Golf Association.

Emceed by Lobster Festival President, Celia Knight, The Maine Lobster Festival Seafood Cooking Contest is a favorite event of festival attendees each year. Follow the process with us as 4 amateur chefs prepare their seafood creations for judging at the 2019 Maine Lobster Festival Seafood Cooking Contest. The winner is chosen based on the presentation of the final dish as well as the appearance of the table, on the ease of duplication of the recipe, and of course on the excellence of the seafood dish that has been prepared. Be prepared for delicious delights, and all the recipes are available on line at the Maine Lobster Festival website.

The theme of the parade this year is “Community : At the Heart of It All”, and the Grand Marshalls were all the men and women who served in any branch of the military, and the parade was full of many groups marching or riding representing the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, with representation of the Honor Flight program and the Patriot Guard Riders .In addition there were numerous floats relating to the “Community” theme, bands, Sea Princesses, Sea Goddesses & King Neptune, antique cars, and much, much more.

The Launch of the Friendship Sloop “Blackjack”
The 118 year-old Friendship Sloop “Blackjack” was extensively refitted over 3 years and then launched in the old tradition from the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum in Rockland, Maine on July 7, 2018. The Blackjack returns to Penobscot Bay to become the oldest working fishing/lobster boat still in use in Maine. Members of the public can take tours on the sloop to observe and participate in lobster fishing as it was 100 years ago. The launch festivities included a team of oxen hauling the sloop to launch on rollers, fiddlers, a bagpiper, and a large crowd of admiring onlookers and helpers.

Penobscot Bay YMCA Boat Auction and Nautical Fair 2018
Every year, The Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport, Maine, holds a boat auction to raise money for the Y Summer Camp Programs. Local people donate boats, from paddle boards and kayaks to large sail & power boats, as well as many nautical-related items. This auction benefits the community in two ways – the auction attendees can get some excellent bargains, and the children of the community benefit from the money that provides funds for the Summer Camp Programs. Don’t miss this event, held each year on the second Saturday in June.
