Camden Snow Bowl Receives Community Spirit Award from the Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum
Watch this video of the presentation from the Maine Ski & Snowboard Museum of the Community Spirit Award to the Camden Snow Bowl on December 7, 2024. The presentation was made by Glenn Parkinson, President of the Museum, and was received by master of ceremonies Dave Ridley, a Camden resident , Snow Bowl Ski Instructor, and Vice President of the Museum. Then Snow Bowl has remained a town-owned ski area since its inception in 1936– one of the few left in the state. In keeping with the museum’s mission to “celebrate, preserve, and share the history and heritage of Maine skiing and snowboarding,” Camden residents were recognized for their ongoing stewardship of this important piece of local history.
1974 Camden-Rockport HS Basketball State Championship 50th Anniversary Celebration
Watch this video of interviews with the team members , coach, and cheerleaders who were part of the 1974 Camden-Rockport Boys Basketball first ever State Championship for the Windjammers. At the 2024 Alumni game at Camden Hills Regional High School , the State Championship teams from 1974 and 1999 were recognized and celebrated on the 50 th and 25 th respective anniversaries of their State Titles. These interviews with the 1974 team include Coach Gary Heald, Charlie Wootton, Alan Elliott, Billy Connell, Stuart Young, Tom Christie, Lindsay Dean, and cheerleaders Terry Spearin Larsen and Shirley Clement Shannon. Due to time constraints, we were not able to interview other members of the 1974 and of the 1999 team.
