The Camden Garden Club does a number of projects about plants. But they also have a very important project, “Plants for Scholars”, which is about plants and people. Plants for Scholars is funded by the Camden Garden Club’s plant sale each spring, the plants being donated by members of the Garden Club.
On Friday, May 20, 2016, our special guests on the Chris Wolf Show were four members of the Garden Club, Elizabeth Moran, Heather Moran, Stephanie Mathews and Kath Holland . They talked about the plant sale, the Camden Garden Club, the club’s Annual Garden Tour and gardening in general.
Plant sales have been a part of Camden Garden Club’s history since 1938. The club established its scholarship program in 1984, and to date over 100 students, majoring in horticulture-related subjects, have benefited.
The proceeds of the plant sale provide the funds necessary to maintain this significant educational resource for the community.
The Camden Garden Club “Plants for Scholars” Sale will be Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, under the portico of Allen Insurance, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.
All of the plants offered for sale are donated by Camden Garden Club members who will be on hand to tell you more about the club’s activities including the upcoming House & Garden Tour on July 21. You can also visit their website camdengardenclub.com for more information.
