I have that taped to my computer and I see it every day…it never ceases to get me. My, my, my…how I wish I could craft an image that pure.
Our seemingly everlasting summer has broken and it’s cold and wet out there today. Yes, we’re heading into more darkness, but always, always there’s light.
Montgomery Dam Produces a Thunder Not a Gurgle
Montgomery Dam is perhaps Camden’s most venerable senior citizen. According to the Interfluve report, recently completed for the town, its first iteration occurred in 1771, the same year the town of Camden was incorporated. This was 49 years before Maine became a state, five years before the Declaration of Independence and 17 years before the U.S. Constitution was passed. George Washington was only 39 years old.

Yes, another “recycled” hug from Maine. I continue to promise you new images but it’s still very, very busy here and I’ve scarcely had a moment to look at the new work I have been making this summer.
There are still a few of the intoxicatingly fragrant rosa rugosa blossoms left on a few of the wild rose bushes out on some of the islands. I find them — now, more than ever — a potent reminder for all of us to literally stop to smell the roses in the midst of our ever busy days.

Midcoast Sternmen Mid Season Interviews July 2021
Did you know that Midcoast Maine had a professional basketball team. They do, and they are doing well and playing at the Flanagan Center ( Rockland Rec Center) in Rockland. In this program, Charlie Crockett interviews the owner of the Sternmen, Brad Galley, the coach and general manager, Jim Graffam, and the captain of the team, Joey Puddister . The next game is July 17. Tickets are available at the door.

Just when Rockland’s home and property owners thought the city was satisfied with last year’s re-assessments, KRT (Kryptonite Realty Taxation) has been re-hired by the city for a do-over of property assessments. We taxpayers fund KRT’ s fees, which the city has not disclosed. A Village Soup article says, “For most properties in the city, it has been since 2005 that this information was last verified. ” Say what? !

DEATHS OF DESPAIR – Barely Hanging On
“William! Kelly!” she hollered.
“I look for a sign from them,” McIver explained. “I’d do anything to bring them both back.”
McIver lost her grandson and daughter over a nine-week stretch. Her 14-year-old grandson William killed himself on Jan. 27. Her 40-year-old daughter Kelly – William’s mother – overdosed on April 3.
“I scream their names every morning when I walk,” McIver said. “I scream as loud as I can.”
